New program to support diverse early-career scientists

Howard Hughes Medical Institute's new program, the Hanna H. Gray Fellowship program, supports early-career scientists who are from gender, racial, ethnic, and other groups underrepresented in the life sciences, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Deadline is February 15.


New fellowship aims to enhance diversity in life sciences


The Hanna H. Gray Fellows Program offers up to eight years of funding, including support from early postdoc through tenure-track faculty phases, for early-career scientists who are from underrepresented groups in the life sciences. Application deadline is February 15, 2017.


Postdoctoral grants on research in human origins and evolution

The Leakey Foundation offers up to 27 grants for ABD Ph.D. students and postdoctoral scholars to research human origins and evolution. Grants to doctoral students are in the $3,000-$15,000 range and postdoctoral schoalrs may be funded up to $25,000. Next deadline is January 10, 2017.


Thomas Jefferson Fund now accepting applications

This new program aims to encourage cooperation among promising young French and American researchers. Up to nine Franco-American projects will be selected. Each selected project will receive a maximum of $20,000 over a period of two years. Deadline is April 9.


What you need to complete your FAFSA

The FAFSA Deadline for 2017-2018 funding support is March 2, 2017, which is just a few weeks away. US graduate students interested in grants or loans via the federal government or through UC/UCSB will need to complete a FAFSA application for funding for the upcoming academic year.
