On March 7, 2020, Science Olympiad at Santa Barbara (SBSCIOLY) will be hosting its second annual Santa Barbara Regional Tournament. Science Olympiad is a STEM outreach program that hosts competitions to encourage K-12 students to discover and develop interests in unique STEM fields. The program has accumulated a fantastic group of undergrad volunteers, but they are also looking to have grad students help run the competition together (particularly in building events and engineering).

The organization is expecting 9 high school and 4 middle school teams from Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, and Kern Counties. They will be competing in 23 different events across fields in the life, physical, and earth sciences as well as engineering and scientific inquiry. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain more experience mentoring and possibly recruiting undergraduate students for your research.
