This year, the Graduate Division Commencement ceremony will be held on Friday, June 14th at 1 p.m. on the Commencement Green. This is a departure from previous years, when it has been held on Sunday at 4 p.m. The change was made to allow for an additional undergraduate ceremony on Sunday to accommodate the increased undergraduate population.

We are excited about this change and hope that more students and faculty will be able to participate. However, we also realize that the ceremony may conflict with other events at this time, so some changes will be necessary to facilitate this new schedule.

Thesis/Dissertation Filing Deadline

While Thesis/Dissertation filing deadlines are always the last day of the quarter, that schedule will now conflict with our Commencement. As a result, the spring filing deadline will be extended to Tuesday, June 18th. This means that all candidates for a spring degree must file their theses/dissertations and/or have their master's comprehensive exams/projects completed by June 18th. Note that the Graduate Division will be closed for much of Friday, June 14th, so that the staff can assist at the ceremony. However, we will be available for students on the 17th and 18th.

Additional information on Commencement and a registration link will be posted later in the quarter. If you have questions about the ceremony, please contact our UCSB Graduate Division Academic Services team.
