"Join in a discussion of the unique challenges commonly experienced as a graduate student of African Heritage. Relive stress. Be empowered. Be encouraged. Celebrate success. Share ideas for maintaining a work-life-school-home balance."

Established by UCSB Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and supported by the Multicultural Center (MCC), Creating Community provides Black graduate students a safe space to discuss topics that are relevant to their experiences. Topics may include interpersonal relationships, self-care, navigating research, departmental support and adjusting to UCSB and the Santa Barbara community. Beginning April 4, Dr. Mario Barfield and Dr. Meridith Merchant will facilitate weekly Monday meetings at the Multicultural Center.

When: Mondays, 3-4 p.m.

Where: Multicultural Center Meeting Room
