Writing (whether producing papers, equations, or short exam responses) is one of the primary ways that students are expected to demonstrate their learning. Writing can also be an exceptionally useful strategy for facilitating learning. This session will focus on how you can help students get the most out of writing assignments, and provide you with strategies to make your commenting practices more effective, efficient, and enjoyable. We recommend you focus on a specific assignment from a course that you have been a TA for in the past or an assignment from a current course for which you are the TA. Please bring one undergraduate writing assignment and one journal article from your discipline to the session.
