UCSB Gevirtz Graduate School of Education Mini Grad Slam

GGSE 2018 Gram Slam Participants

Four Gevirtz Graduate School of Education students will take part in the School’s internal Grad Slam event and will go on to the main UCSB Grad Slam competition starting April 8!

These graduate students will have the chance to ​talk about their research or share their thoughts on big ideas that matter​ -- in just three​ minutes.

The event will be Tuesday, April 2, in Education 4219, and begin at 12pm. This slam is non-competitive and meant to help participants hone their skills. 
All of the presentations are free and open to the public.

The presenters ​are:

  • Melissa Gordon Wolf, “Survey Item Validation”
  • Christopher Salem, “Availability of Pediatric Dental Clinics in California”
  • Meghna Soni, “Improving Fraction Knowledge Through Fraction Techniques”
  • Jing Yu, “Expectation Versus Reality: Challenges Facing Chinese International Undergraduates Enrolled in the U.S. University”

Don't forget to also attend the campus-wide Grad Slam starting April 8. Eighty-four graduate students representing departments and programs all across campus are scheduled to compete in the campus-wide event. This year, Graduate Division will award more than $15,000 in cash and prizes. A full ​schedule of the preliminary events can be found here.
