UCSB Residential & Community Living is currently in the process of hiring Resident Assistants (RAs) for the 2020-2021 academic year. Some of the benefits of this position include opportunities for professional development, working alongside UCSB staff/ faculty, and helping fellow students and residents adjust to campus and Family Student Housing (FSH). The RA responds to the needs of the community and creates a positive, living/learning environment, while working collaboratively with University and Community Housing Services, Residential Operations, and Administrative Services.

Want to find out more about becoming a Family Student Housing (FSH) Resident Assistant (RA) for next year? Come to any of the following info sessions to learn more. You don't have to already be living at FSH to attend the info session, and the info session is not a requirement for applying. Some basic information is below. See you there!

FSH RA Info Sessions:

1. December 3, 7pm, FSH Storke Community Center
2. December 4, 7pm, West Campus Community Center
3. December 5, 7pm, FSH Storke Community Center

Being an RA comes with some fantastic benefits:

  • The RA will be provided with an unfurnished 1-2 bedroom apartment within the residential community as part of the compensation package.
  • Utilities (gas, electricity, internet, and water) are also provided with the apartment.
  • The RA will receive a biweekly stipend.

Requirements

- This is a one-academic-year contracted position, with the possibility of additional one-year renewal maximum. Contingent upon job performance.
​- Must be available for Student Leadership Development (SLD) training mid-August to mid-September. Specific dates to be finalized.
​- Participate in weekly staff meetings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday nights.
​- Maintain weekly one-on-one meeting with supervisors (typically 30-60 minutes) during
business hours.
​- Have flexibility in personal, academic and/or work load to be present in the community and available to residents.
​- Be available for additional duties over some holiday and extended breaks (can typically
work with scheduling).
​- Work a 2-hour office shift weekly.
​- Participate in programming and other community-building initiatives.
