UCSB is excited to have the opportunity to host 7 divisions of the California Energy Commission to share information on what each division does, the career opportunities found within each department, and how people can apply to the opportunities offered.

As the state's primary energy policy and planning agency, the California Energy Commission (CEC) is committed to reducing energy costs and environmental impacts of energy use - such as greenhouse gas emissions - while ensuring a safe, resilient, and reliable supply of energy. It was established in 1974 by the Warren ‐ Alquist Act , and Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. appointed the first five commissioners in 1975.

UCSB is excited to have the opportunity to host 7 divisions of the California Energy Commission to share information on what each division does, the career opportunities found within each department and how people can apply to the opportunities offered. Each department will give a brief 3 - 4 minute introduction and departmental description, and after that the conversation will be opened up to student questions. Information on the CEC itself and the exam and employment application process will also be shared. Participating departments include:

• Administration and Financial Services

• Efficiency

• Energy Assessment

• Energy Resources and Development

• Fuels and Transportation

• Renewable Energy

• Siting, Transmission and Environmental Protection
