Attention recent graduates looking for a non-academic, university staff position with a social justice orientation. The Multicultural Center (MCC) is currently hiring a Student Liaison to support the services and mission of the MCC. The UCSB MCC presents educational and creative programs in the struggle against institutional racism, ethnocentrism, sexism, heterosexism, and all forms of group oppression. It provides a safe space for students of color, international communities, LGBTQ persons, immigrants, and representatives of any groups who face hatred. Since 1987, the MCC has inspired thousands of UCSB students, community members, and local organizations in the pursuit of student activism, campus diversity, university inclusiveness, and overall just society.

Location: Santa Barbara, California

Salary Range: $22.29-$25.38/hr. commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides dynamic marketing, communication, technical, advising, and programming support to over 60 student organizations affiliated with the UCSB MultiCultural Center.
  • Promote learning opportunities and enhance cultural diversity, awareness, and understanding for UCSB student organizations.
  • Regularly attend meetings of user groups and simultaneously coordinate MCC Town-Hall meetings for campus organizations that work in conjunction with the anti-oppressive mission of the MCC.
  • Coordination and presentation of Social Justice Conference at UC Santa Barbara.
  • Strategic management of social media campaigns.
  • Budget management.

Key Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Amenable to feedback.
  • Demonstrated community engagement skills.
  • Previous involvement in student organizations.
