Join Nate Emery as he shares about his current postdoc position and what motivated the career moves that have brought him to where he is now. He'll discuss current trends and strategies in STEM pedagogy research, the scope of disciplineâbased education research (DBER), and the current employment landscape for teachingâfocused academics.
Nate recently received his Ph.D. in Ecology, Evolution and Marine Biology from UCSB. He taught several courses as an instructor, designed an upper biology course and is a recipient of the Graduate Student Association Teaching Award and Certificate in College and University Teaching. Currently, as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Michigan State University, he is working with Dr. Diane EbertâMay on professional development research in STEM education. His research examines the effects of institutional reward systems, departmental culture, teacher training, and selfâefficacy on teaching bestâpractices in earlyâcareer biology faculty.
