UC Santa Cruz's Institute for Scientist & Engineer Educators (ISEE) is pleased to announce the registration period is now open for the 2017 Professional Development Program. This program provides early‐career scientists and engineers (primarily graduate students) training in effective science and engineering education techniques as well as other professional skills, such as teamwork and leadership. The program is also open to postdocs, faculty members, and other scientists and engineers.

Program participants attend teaching workshops, join a design team, and then teach in a program or course focused primarily on teaching lab-based courses at the college level with general teaching strategies that can be applied to a range of teaching venues. Participants apply three major themes to their teaching: inquiry, equity and inclusion, and assessment. These themes are supported by research and an understanding of them is highly valued in the job market.

The program includes six and a half days of workshops broken down into the ISEE Inquiry Institute and the ISEE Design Institute. Fee waivers and travel support are available.
