Virginia Tech is hosting the Future Faculty Development Program, an exciting and rewarding two-day event for a small group of doctoral students and post-doctoral scholars interested in pursuing academic careers.
Each year, âthe program brings a cohort of 12 to âthe main campus in Blacksburg, Virginia, for an all-expenses-paid workshop that includes interaction with host departments, workshops such as negotiating job offers and adjusting to life as a new faculty member, and plenty of opportunities to network with faculty in research areas of interest to participants.
The 2017 Future Faculty program will be held January 9-12 at Virginia Tech's Blacksburg campus to provide participants with the opportunity to hear presentations and have candid discussions with department heads, deans, and current faculty members about faculty life and the range of faculty responsibilities in learning, discovery, and engagement.
Participants are hosted by a Virginia Tech department to tour research facilities, meet with current faculty to gain a greater awareness of research and teaching opportunities, and discuss their career prospects and academic work.
